I

I am the centre of my universe,
I am a tiny speck in the universe…

I drown in guilt with deadlines,
I procrastinate like no other…

I live here in the present,
I lose myself in memories…

I believe life is beautiful,
I dread waking up in morning…

I wonder what next,
I wander into past…

I am just a caterpillar,
I am the exquisite butterfly…

I wake up earlier somedays,
I sleep in till noon at times…

I am so organised with few,
I am most chaotic at many…

I dish out counsel, as if I conquered life,
I break down and dread to pick up myself…

I laugh louder with not a care,
I cry harder when it’s needed too…

I am an introvert to speak to others,
I am an extrovert to explore places…

I chatter incessantly to few,
I measure my words as few…

I am an explosion that brightens the sky,
I bury my head like an ostrich in earth…

I am just like you,
I am as unique as you..

I am many parts of one,
I am more than sum of my parts!

I am an oxymoron!
I am an epitome!

Ahoy! Five years on board!

My blog did cross a pompous milestone of Five Years! And this is the first year, it had gone by without me blowing the trumpet for it..

I recently revamped the looks of my site. And thought of cleaning up my past posts. Since I am yet to grow strong within to call crap as crap, my old silly posts still stay, for now.. But I had better success with my drafts and this one needed to be posted on my blog..

I wrote this for my 100th post.. But I am much closer to my 500th right now.. So I have changed over those 100s of posts and might also claim to have grown a teensy bit.. Yet in the depth of my hearts, I still have a high pride of my blog and here below is one such pompous trumpet blowing post.. Reserve your judgements, till you read it till the very end..

Now go grab a cup of coffee or chai and some refreshments so you won’t sleep in between this long post of ramble.. 😉

This is my 100th post!

It had taken a very long journey of two years to cross the two-thirds, while just one month was enough to complete the last one-third.

I have successfully managed to post a day on every day so far, in spite of the times I was inclined to not write up the next. I wanted to post daily, not out of some challenge or someone dared me to! I took this up voluntarily for a personal reason and this seems to work beautifully.

Now is the time to take a look back, so I would know what I have come across, so I could reassure myself that, I could go further and reach where I want to reach!

I had updated my Facebook page’s ‘About me’ as follows. Do take note that it was written more than a year back.

Smile!

I know I have been postponing all my awards’ posts and I should have at least added a ‘No Awards Policy’ to safely escape. (I could hear your mind voice saying, lazy girl.. But…. Fine.. Let me face it, yes I am lazy for award posts and the reason I say to procrastinate it every time is ‘I can’t tag few and not tag others’.. Yup, a very silly excuse.. But that discussion is for another post and another day)

But I couldn’t resist this happiness tag like other awards. The Tag is so cheerful and why not spread a smile with it?! Thanks to Ms. Alamelu for successfully getting me to finish up a tagged post.. 😉

All I have to do is list 5 things which make me happy and 5 songs which make me happy. (Yes, we could ignore the tag 5 people to continue part, which I am not going to do)

What makes me happy?

  1. Appreciation
A word of sincere appreciation for a work I did without drawing attention to anyone.
Thanks for noticing those tiny details. 🙂
  2. Friends
(No, I am not talking about the TV series. Yes, it is supposed to make you happy from what I have heard and I am yet to experience the ‘FRIENDS’ effect)
But I have got few great friends, who are great in pulling the leg to keep me grounded as well as give me a push to get me back to my feet.
  3. Making someone happy!
See you smile makes me smile. The simple act of spreading smile is underrated. Please don’t neglect that!
  4. My Stats
I would be lying if I say like-a-saint that I am  unaffected by the figures rising up and for those sweet notifications pop up to remind me of my milestones.
  5. Completing something
Being the lazy person I am, I stick to very few things till completion and those things are always a reason for my happiness.

What songs make me happy?

This is lot tougher than the previous one. For how could I restrict to just five songs?! Still listing the first five that pops up!

  1. Chinnanchiru Kiliye Kannamma
  2. Chippi Irukuthu muthum irukkuthu
  3. Aananda yaazhai meetugiraai
  4. Oru Deivam thantha poove
  5. Unakenna venum sollu

All songs are in Tamil and the links direct you to complete details, video, lyrics and translation of the songs.

I would like to change the tag to continue to the following.

Please do comment the first thing that strikes your mind when you hear the word – smile.

If nothing comes up, let me know of at least one thing that crosses your mind when you hear about me / my blog.

Whether you comment or not, don’t forget to collect your smile from here! This is a genie that replenishes continuously, so take as many as you would like!

😀 🙂 😀

Aadhirai

This is indeed about my name. I have been asked several times about the meaning of my name and my lazy self decided to write a post once and share it henceforth! I could see you smirking at my laziness, but as ever, I couldn’t cut short the meaning into a line or two and I also think that the name deserves a post of its own. Hence, without further ado, here is the story of Aadhirai.

There are Five great epics in Tamizh literature. One of them is Manimekalai.

The title character, Manimekalai, has a special bowl, amutha surabhi (something similar to cornucopia), which gives food forever and it never empties, so she could feed the needy. When she received that bowl, it came with a condition. It will start repleting itself only if it receives alms from a person so pure and generous.

அமுத சுரபிக்கே அமுதிட்டவள் ஆதிரை.. That is Aadhirai. The one who gave alms to Amudha surabhi itself..

This is the first info I learnt about her and it made me search, What’s so special about her? And here’s her story. Continue reading “Aadhirai”
